We began this summer with a challenge for our adult Sunday School class, and it is an excellent opportunity to really re-evaluate the priorities we place on our own spiritual development. As we strive to grow attendance in our adult Sunday school class, it is important that we don’t lose focus of why Sunday School is such a privilege for each one of us.
The opportunity to learn in a quiet, distraction free environment, with the opportunity to ask questions, is incredibly rare in our fast paced lives. While the kids are learning in their classes, we have the chance to spend time increasing our own knowledge of God’s Word. 2 Peter 3:18 tells us to grow in grace and knowledge and we have an obligation as a Christian to seek Christ through His Word. Sunday School is a tool that helps you grow in knowledge and develop your ability to use the Word of God as a weapon (Ephesians 6:17). Do you remember when David fought Goliath? He didn’t want Saul’s weapons, he wanted something he knew and he was skilled at. In order to be effective, we have to spend time learning to use our weapon.
We spent the month of May studying our walk and how to walk and please God, so as we move forward seeking a closer walk, we must be mindful of what we sow if we want to reap fruit that is pleasing to God. So please join us for Sunday school this summer and spend time sowing into God’s Word with us!
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
